Dame (Damon) Dash 2.0 →
After the Rocafella bling era, Dame becomes a self described “pretentious hippie”.  We’re a sucker for re-invention stories so we’re cheering for him.  Plus, the whole Warhol-esque blending designers, artists and musicians thing is right up our alley.

U.S. wineries use new wind turbines to decrease... →
Wine Spectator has an article about a few wineries who have added wind turbines to their vineyards.  One of the advantages of this new design (see below) is the disappearance of those huge propellers.  The propellers were a danger to birds because they couldn’t see the tips of the propellers when they were spinning at full speed.

The greyer the berry the sweeter the juice?
vinzen: Have you ever enjoyed an Auslese or Beerenauslese wine from Germany or even an Italian Amarone? If so, then you’ve probably consumed wines that are derived from grapes with a grey fungus called Botrytis cinerea.  A botrytized wine comes from grapes covered in grey mold and is commonplace, especially in German wines. Boytris is caused by a continually humid environment that can lead to a...

Why Wine Ratings Are Badly Flawed
By LEONARD MLODINOW Acting on an informant’s tip, in June 1973, French tax inspectors barged into the offices of the 155-year-old Cruse et Fils Frères wine shippers. Eighteen men were eventually prosecuted by the French government, accused, among other things, of passing off humble wines from the Languedoc region as the noble and five-times-as-costly wine of Bordeaux. During the trial it...

Microsoft and News Corp in Discussions to Remove...
8Share Yes, really. Rupert Murdoch’s crusade to blame Google for the failing newspaper business model continues today, as it emerges that News Corp has conducted talks with Microsoft about de-indexing the company’s sites from Google and (presumably) being paid to include them in Bing instead. The concept makes sense only if you buy Murdoch’s claims that Google ( ) is...

3 Tips to Exploring South Africa Wines
vinzen: Look for wines from Stellenbosch and Paarl.  Hermanus has recently been up and coming as well. Cabernet blends are ranking as one of the best in South Africa.  (Check out the Anwilka) Try a Pinotage grape, which is unique to South Africa. It is a mix of Cinsault and Pinot Noir, but while a mix of two old french grapes, this is very much a new world styled wine.  It has mixed reviewed...

3, 2, 1 Launch!!
Soooo, Aina and I will open our first store on Thursday (November 9, 2009).  It’s hard to believe that we actually made it to the finish line.  We have watched so many people try to open stores this year and frankly, none of them made it all the way. When you see other people work as hard as you who know just as much about business as you do, it tends to have a humbling effect…at...
